Problem: Running pc/OS 3 or greater under Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista Solution: pc/OS can run under Windows NT or later, but it extremely crash prone. This is due to the Windows NT DOS Emulation. A way to get around this is by using an alternative DOS emulator. These do a much better job than the NT substitute and are less likely to crash. One I recommend is DOSBox. To run pc/OS from DOSBox, run the Command Prompt (Start, Run, type Command), navigate to the DOSBox folder using the CD command (e.g. if DOSBox is in C:\dosbox\ then type CD C:\GAMES and press Enter) and type dosbox the path to pc/OS and -full screen. So, if pc/OS is at C:\pcos5\pcos5.exe, type DOSBOX C:\PCOS5\PCOS5.EXE -FULLSCREEN Exit pc/OS, then type EXIT at the command prompt. DOSBox is not needed under Windows 3.1, 95, 98 and Me. The opening screen of pc/OS is known to distort and stretch outside of the screen/window. This is a problem with DOSBox. Alternatively to DOSBox, use an emulator such as Bochs (Free) or VMWare (Commercial). For problems with DOSBox, please refer to the DOSBox Web Site (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/).
